AROS Vision

Modern and free Amiga-Compatible Experience on Amiga and PC

WHDLoad

WHDLoad is one of the most important developments of the last years. Amiga software, mainly the games, were disk based. They were transfered to electronic format called adf, but still you needed to change them when using them in UAE. Worse, often the games depend on certain roms so that they not worked on more updated hardware lile A1200 with different roms and chipset. WHDLoa solves this by creating a installation that runs from harddrive called slave. In this slave it is defined what hardware and rom is used and this is created when the slave is started. More details here. Of course Aros Vision includes a working whdload installation. For roms Aros roms are integrated that work with about 70% of the slaves. Of course you can install your own roms too. More later. Every slave can be started with doubleclick on the icon and stopped with a predefined key. Example in screenshot by Escape.

WHDFetch

One nice new option is the addition of whdfetch. It is a nice script that offers lots of possibilities and makes it easy to download games and demos. It can be started from shell or in magellan by Games/whdfetch/games or Games/whdfetch/demos. With that you can easily download thousands of games and demos easily.

Integration of original ROMs

AROS ROMs are already preinstalled and work very good. About 70% of the slave start. Some show error when started. Reason is, the slave searches for the correct rom checking a checksum that is of course wrong with aros roms and stops. The solution is to integrate the correcft roms. Legal source is Amigaforever. From there copy the roms  Description is here. Copy and rename the files and copy it in devs/kickstarts. If you have amigaforever you can simply copy Shared/dir/System/Devs/kickstarts
