AROS Vision

Modern and free Amiga-Compatible Experience on Amiga and PC

AROS Vision - a complex distribution

AROS Vision combines components and software from AROS platform with components and software from AmigaOS 68k platform. In many cases changes or recompile is not needed and it works by default. This makes it very flexible.

From AROS 68k it inherits a solid foundation with advanced components like datatypes (24bit), network stack, RTG, AHI, MUI (Zune), Themeing and windows can be moved out of the screen.

This is extended with replacing or adding libraries, patches, commodities, shell commands and lots of software. To make it as useable as possible the main desktops scalos and magellan are heavily configured with priority on magellan desktop. On this page I will show some of the features based on magellan, scalos can be different.

Some highlights...

Predefined Filetypes

In both Magellan and Scalos are filetypes predefined, who define what happens after double-click on a file and which menu appear if you right-click on it. I used that exentsively, expecially in magellan desktop, to make use of the environment much more easy. This f.e. is context mentu for IFF picutres. You can convert the iff picture in lots of different formats by using mouse. Other options make no sense but are defined for files without ending like .iff so you cannot say what format is behind.
